Helmut Wilhelm Carlsen founded the company H.W.Carlsen in 1966 in Malmö, Sweden. He was a trailblazer in the field of dry material handling, inventing and developing many of Carlsen’s dry material handling systems that are still in use all over the world today. Mr Carlsen pioneered the use of the fluidisation floor within the dry material handling systems. The fluidisation bottoms for holds, silos or tanks designed specially by Carlsen ensure that leftover residues are reduced to an absolute minimum. Today, most dry material handling systems around the world are equipped with fluidisation bottoms.
The business started with the land-based material handling systems for the cement industry and expanded into the maritime sector a couple of years later.
Carlsen’s dry material handling systems have proven extremely reliable and easy to operate. Carlsen systems handle many millions of tons of dry bulk material per year (dry cargos, such as cement, fly ash, alumina and many more).
In 2010 the organization moved to the Netherlands and changed its name to Carlsen. In 2015 Carlsen was add to the Lion Bulk Handling product portfolio as a brand. Carlsen provides customers with a complete range of bulk handling products and solutions. We are moving forward, to educate, develop, improve and support logistic solutions, ensuring an efficient material flow.
